15.30: Arrival at Fontanile.
Fontanile is situated on the hills of Upper Monferrato, Unesco World Heritage since 2014. Its origins date back to IV-V centuries and the name, from Latin Fontanilis (land of spring waters) tells its strict connection with nature. Between IX and X centuries was built the fortress to protect the village from the "Saraceni" (Arab population) defied in a famous battle in 936 in the territory of Fontanile.

Since 2017 an artistic project has transformed the village into an open-air museum. Walking along the streets of the historical center, known as "la Villa" you can admire many "Murales"( wall paintings) among which, scenes of common life of '500s and '600s: the craft workshop, the market and the ancient jobs. Outside "the villa" there are scenes of farmer tradition and local history. In conclusion: a village, an art gallery, a population who loves telling itself.

The guided visit of the Murales is made by the Association Narratori del Territorio.

17.00: Departure from Fontanile

17.15: Arrival at Maranzana.

Stop by Cantina Maranzana for aperitif and tasting of wines of their production. Established in 1950, it is an enterprise owing its strengtht to history, tradition and territory of famous DOCG wines such as Moscato, Cortese, Dolcetto, Barbera , Brachetto and Chardonnay.

18.15: Return to Alessandria passing by Castellazzo Bormida. Who wants, can stop here to follow the ceremonies foreseen in Castellazzo Bormida.
